About This Course

The course “Auxiliary in Geriatric and Home Nursing” provides comprehensive training for those interested in working as nursing assistants in geriatric settings and in home care. During the course, participants will acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to collaborate effectively with the nursing team and provide daily care to patients.

The course program covers different relevant aspects for the role of an auxiliary in this context. Topics such as an introduction to the nursing assistant, the structure and function of the human body, the importance of nutrition in patient care, and an overview of common pathologies in the elderly will be explored. In addition, practical aspects such as fracture management, handwashing, oral hygiene, and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) will be addressed.

Throughout the course, participants will have theoretical resources, practical activities, and assessments to reinforce the acquired knowledge. In this unit, the fundamental aspects of the structure and function of the human body are studied. The major systems and organs are addressed, and their anatomy and physiology are examined in depth. The topic of nutrition is also introduced, understanding its importance for the patients' well-being and health.

Hygiene and Emergencies

In this unit, two key aspects for the nursing assistant are explored: hygiene and emergencies. The importance of handwashing as a fundamental infection prevention measure is addressed. Additionally, the proper techniques and practices of oral hygiene to maintain patients' oral health are studied.
